Basement
If you are lucky enough to have a basement at your disposal, by all means use it! these can make the perfect grow room. The humidity will tend to be higher than normal, but keeping this under control along with the temperature isn't a big problem. Light proofing is easy, locking the smell in isn't a problem with decent carbon filters. Sound proofing is taken care of by the ground around the room, this can be improved by hanging fans from bungee cables and using a soundblocker quilt around any openings.
Shipping Container
These are growing in popularity every year. Having a self contained, fully enclosed grow factory is quite appealing. Dropping these into the ground is the way to go. Everything that goes for the basement usually applies to this, just be sure to use damp proof membrane around the hole.
Loft / Attic
These are absolutely great to grow in, the biggest problems you will face are controlling the temperature and stopping heat from escaping. They tend to be too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer. Police helicopters routinely fly around looking for 'hotspots' on roofs as well, so having the best insulation available is a must. As well as having the exhaust vents somewhere else other than the roof. As always, carbon filters are mandatory.
Spare Bedroom
One of the easiest to setup, especially since the advent of grow tents. Instead of messing about with light proofing doors and windows, just buy a big tent and use that. Just remember to put a lock on the door and keep it closed.
Warehouse Unit
A favourite among commercial growers in Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester. The huge amount of cheap industrial land available for peanuts has made vietnamese growers move in by the truckload.
Pub
Pubs have been closing down at an average of four a day for the past two years and many are now operating at a loss. So when a friendly stranger offers to rent a room no questions asked for two or three times the usual rent, who are the landlords to turn it down? Pubs are cheap real estate at the moment, great for growing.
Garden
It's surprising how many people have the balls to grow in plain view of the public. What's even more surprising is how few of the public even notice a cannabis plant when they walk past. You could probably plant a big fat ass Super Skunk plant next to a bus stop and guarantee only 5% will recognise it for what it is.
